"Canticle is a really rich, dark piece (with the really rich, dark voice of Ashly Evans) that has a shattering crescendo and an equally shattering decrescendo."

Translation
Set me as a seal upon your heart,
as a seal opon your arm;
For love is as strong as death,
Ambition as harsh as hell:
its flames are a blazing fire.
Deep waters cannot extinguish love,
Nor rivers sweep it away.
If a man should give all the substance of his house for love,
he shall despise it as nothing.

Canticle was first performed at the 2007 Electronic Music Midwest in Kansas City by mezzo-soprano, Ashley Evans.
